Khal Drogo confirmed for Puerto Rico Comic Con 2015

·         VIP ticket sales begin Wednesday the 15th; general admission ticket sales begin October 30th.

San Juan, PR – You saw him in HBO’s Game of Thrones. You saw him as Conan the Barbarian and in Stargate Atlantis. Soon, millions of fans will be able to see him in Puerto Rico Comic Con 2015 (PRCC): the best entertainment event in the Caribbean taking place from May 22-24.

VIP Multipass tickets will be on sale from Wednesday, October 15th, and general admission tickets (by day) will be on sale from October 30th. Both of these will be available through ticketpop.com.

“The immense support of the fans has helped Puerto Rico Comic Con expand to a three day event; this in turn has helped our budget value increase. This includes bringing high caliber entertainment stars such as Jason Momoa, better known as Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones. In order to give fans a high quality experience, Comic Con responds to that which fans yearn for,” said Ricardo Carrión, executive producer of the event.

Furthermore, the producer promised that throughout the following months there would be more announcements such as this, adding more stars to the event.

Currently the VIP Multipass, limited to 500 tickets, is available on ticketpop.com and in numerous kiosks throughout the island. This pass includes three day access to the event, an exclusive entrance line 30 minutes before the doors open to the general public, reserved seating in the panels (subject to availability), privileged access in the autograph area, an exclusive collectible figure created for PRCC by Mezco Toys, a "goodie bag" and a collectible ID card. The VIP Multipass is priced at $80.

The general admission ticket program, which goes on sale October 30th, includes the following: three day pass for $45 limited to 2,000 tickets; one day ticket for Friday, Saturday or Sunday, $17 each. Prices do not include tax or service charges.

Carrión stressed the importance of acquiring the tickets as early as possible, due to the fact that the past event was sold out in its entirety. Due to this the tickets are limited in every category.

Musical Mayhem: Little Shop of Horrors Review

By. Mick Neeky

Let me begin by saying that Venus fly traps have nothing on Audrey II. Little Shop of Horrors is more than just a mere crossover between an alien plant and a musical. It’s a ride full of laughter, catchy beats, and well-rounded characters.

Alan Menken’s musical comes to life for the second time. The first time Little Shop of Horrors was portrayed in the big screen it was way back in the 60’s. Frank Oz, the director behind The Dark Crystal, takes the helm of this remake and is backed up by big name actors: Rick Moranis (Seymour Krelborn), Levi Stubbs (Audrey II), Ellen Greene (Audrey), Steve Martin (Orin Scrivello), among others. You’ll be impressed by the amount of detail that went into making this musical.

Little Shop of Horrors’ most enjoyable detail is its plot; in which Seymour buys a weird alien plant that is feeds on blood. In any other hands Little Shop of Horrors would’ve been a Horror movie, but it executes a don’t-take-me-serious style that works quite well. Frank Oz shines once more in his approach.

Oz manages to deliver a spectacular Audrey II. It looks beautiful, moves like if it were alive, and sings outstanding. The puppetry behind him is ahead of its time. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I say it.

Now, for the coup de grace: the music. Little Shop of Horrors songs are catchy and entertaining, yet the characters don’t just sing for the sake of it. It’s done as it should be: songs make the story move forward. I kept going back for more of Steve Martin’s character (a psychotic dentist) and one of his most laugh-out-loud scenes. Actors like Rick Moranis blend their acting and singing skills perfectly.  It works like a well-oiled machine. Yet, among all the praise and amazement, I do have one problem: Audrey. Her singing doesn’t sink with her characters squeaky voice. Most of the time it’s so annoying, it becomes a distraction.

That’s all for September’s musical. Little Shop of Horrors is a must see,—despite Audrey’s annoying voice—take my word for it. And remember to suggest your favorite musicals. Till next time!

Keep it Neeky.

Sharknado Apocalypse is Near

by Dr. Sparta

My fellow whales, I've already tackled sharks before. I've seen two-headed sharks, ultra-violent sharks in Australia, but tornado-riding sharks are a first and a truly exhilarating experience. For the glory of its impossible, explosive, illogical return, I will take on both Sharknados.

Where could I even start with this epic, senseless, brutal tale, where people drive helicopters into shark-filled tornadoes to blow them up and save Los Angeles?. A man freezes a tornado on top of the Empire State Building and flies into the shark-filled skies wielding a chainsaw, slicing through a shark that eats him midair. Then he proceeds to grab a chain and ride another shark onto the top of the skyscraper shielding his fall from death. Yeah my whales, that is a true story within the movies. Granted, for all the good and refreshing things, they brought “Sharknado 2: The Second One”, and by what they presented, it made me think they forgot their roots; replacing some essentials with EPICNESS, which is NOT necessarily a GLORIOUS thing.

I do not believe in going into small details to decide over something, but the first Sharknado had its local area feel, with good characters. It had a white background for whenever they shielded inside their transports. “Sharknado 2: The Second One”, starts off the bat with a bombardment of cameos. All sorts of people unexpectedly pop up, bringing shame to themselves for ever being in something as WONDROUS as a Sharknado movie. My biggest complaint was Kurt Angle as a gentle fireman? He served no purpose being in that cameo. It felt unnecessary for that to have taken place, but no movie is without its flaws so I cannot complain or nitpick such an outstanding SyFy movie.

My dear whales, if you like cheap outstanding, stupefying, outrageously ridiculous, and GLORIOUS pieces of work, then watch the Sharknado movies. They are a tale to witness, a force to be felt…A sight to be glued onto your brains. In all seriousness, Sharknadoes in New York? What’s next? This is Dr. Sparta, looking for chainsaws, shotguns, homemade bombs, and liquid nitrogen for the impending Sharknado Apocalypse... That’s it for today!
